Construction of an Olympic multipurpose hall

The project was completed with 30 million man-hours without a single Lost Time Accident (LTA) and was awarded the Global Sustainability Association System (GSAS) Design 2014 Sustainability Award for building design to create healthier spaces for its occupants to reduce negative impacts on the environment.

The scope of works covered the construction of an Olympic multipurpose hall for Handball, Basketball and Volleyball and two utilities buildings (Cooling and Microwave towers) with soft and hard landscaping as two Fountains, Playgrounds, External Gyms, Toilets, Kiosks, vehicle passages, External shaded and unshaded parking and internal Parking for VIP/VVIP.

The total plot area is 387,123 m².

Building No. 1: Referred to as the “Multipurpose Hall“, is the main Arena hall with footprint coverage area around 49,315 m². It contains the main arena and two training halls with other rooms and facilities for the athletics, operator and spectators. The hall also contains VIP / VVIP areas.

Building No. 2: Referred to as the “Cooling Tower Building” (Utility Building #01), is the cooling tower with total plot of 1,080 m² and includes the following:

Supply all Air Conditioning (cooling and heating) and ventilation system.
Supply chiller plant including water cooled chillers, cooling towers thermal storage, heat exchangers and pumps.
Supply fresh air treatment plants with heat pipe recovery.

Building No. 3: Microwave Tower which is the TV Broadcasting room with total plot area of 378 m².
